Hike up to first lake by following the creek. Stay on the lakes west side and follow close to it's shores to an other lake. Then round this lakes south end and start gaining elevation up Arbutus's west side. There was a small section of close to the top which hosted some nice old firs but the summit cap was not as lucky. For the descent all I did was point myself in the right direction put the safety goggles on and bush bash down to the road.

   How to get To Arbutus Summit     Starting from the Port Alberni's Info Center. Drive towards the west coast and take the first left just across the Somass River. Drive through Sprout Lake Logging division and get on the Cous Main line. Drive up the hill and turn left onto Summit rd. just under 2km up park on the other side of the only creek coming in on the left side.
